I made this cake for a friend’s birthday, based on the logo of her music company. It was pretty quick and not too difficult either, due to the easy-to-replicate shapes of the logo.
Firstly, I covered the whole of the cake in plain fomdant. Unfortunately, the cake had baked with a fold in the greaseproof paper surrounding it, so there was an annoying dip in the side of the cake. This was emphasised by the fondant. However, there was nothing I could do about it, so I turned the cake around and pretended the dip didn’t exist.
Next, I indented the logo into the fondant with a sharp icing tool and traced over it with black icing. I did the same with the music notes and symbols and then rolled out some little, yellow balls to make the cake more colourful. I finished by attaching alternating black and yellow balls around the base of the cake, to hide any joining errors.
